The company was founded in 1980 by a group of health conscious individuals in Northern California who were learning about the benefits of internal cleansing. However, the high quality herbs and fiber that they needed were not readily available. Because of this need, the original Internal Cleansing Program was introduced in 1980.

Since that time, Yerba Prima has continued to develop, manufacture and market a range of fiber and internal cleansing products that are of the highest quality, are natural and that respond to the needs of health conscious individuals. Yerba Prima is the only company that manufactures a complete range of all-natural fiber and internal cleansing products.

After many years in Oakland, California, the company relocated to a custom designed corporate office and manufacturing facility in beautiful Ashland, Oregon, in 1991.

Yerba Prima’s new facility was the first commercial building in Ashland to win the Energy Smart Award, for energy conservation measures that were included in the design and construction of the building.

Yerba prima is registered both as a food manufacturer and as an Over-The-Counter Drug Manufacturer. Manufacturing takes place in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) that are stricter than normal industry standards, to ensure the safety, purity and efficacy of all Yerba Prima products.

Extensive testing is done at each step of the manufacturing process, beginning with testing of all incoming ingredients and packaging materials used in Yerba Prima products. Additional microbiological, chemical and physical tests take place during and after each manufacturing cycle to ensure product quality.
